I’m not the only dreamer in the SEOsphere

My favorite threads at Threadwatch and WebmasterWorld are never those that deal with SEO, links, or tech issues. Instead, I like gossip, namecalling, and foo!

Tax “Haven” or Low Tax Countries? made it onto the WMW homepage today. I love hearing about where people are from, where they live now, and why they choose to live there. Some highlights:

  • FourDegreez: …I’d also look into the US Virgin Islands. St. Thomas is beautiful and not overly foreign, yet being US land I’m not sure if the tax situation there is so favorable.
Me: Hey, USVI’s on my shortlist!
  • europeforvisitors: …I can’t imagine relocating anywhere on the basis of AdSense income. What happens if your personal AdSense well runs dry, or the faucet gets turned off?
Me: Amen, mate! I’m moving into affiliate stuff 110%, Adsense is a house of cards.
  • Tropical Island: I live on an Island in the Caribbean… Negatives include a socialist government that is getting stronger by the day and many basic services that don’t work all that well. On the other hand the beaches are great, gas is 15¢ a US gal. & beer is just 28¢ a can.
Me: You ROCK, bro! But “owning” anything in a country Hugo Chavez runs is a bit scary ;-)
  • gamiziuk: I moved from New Jersey USA to Florida USA which was a great move for me, tax-wise.
Me: Woo-hoooo for Florida! (I’m a native… though I live in the Midwest). Woo-hoo for no state income taxes!

Bottom line: SEOs love to daydream! It’s not just romantic places to live/visit… most of us also dream about ungodly revenue growth and the gangsta be-your-own-boss lifestyle (at least, those of us who aren’t yet). Anyone else remember when Mook-Jon became really (internet) famous? I do. He posted a thread at Sitepoint titled Screenshots: My CJ stats which featured a screenshot of a CJ account with 80K USD in it. How’s that for a dream? :-)

Beginnings…

“The discipline of writing something down is the first step toward making it happen.”
–Lee Iacocca

“I wanna go where it’s warm.”
–Jimmy Buffet

Those quotes are one reason I’m starting this journal. The other is so I can show off pics if and when I visit crazy places ;-)
